An experimental study on combustion and emissions characteristics in a dual-injection spark-assisted compression ignition engine fueled with PODE/gasoline

Spark-assisted compression ignition (SACI) is a potential way to improve thermal efficiency for gasoline engine with relatively low ratio. The dual-injection system and spark strategy are considered be an effective approach control the combustion of SACI engine. Polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethers (PODE) fuel carbon neutral high oxygen content unique molecule structure. In this study, transition modes different equivalence ratio effects direct injection (DI) on emissions fueled PODE/gasoline under loads were investigated. results showed that could achieved 13 brake efficiencies (BTEs) at 2 bar, 3 bar 4 dual-fuel increased by 49%, 29% 27%, respectively, compared mode. increase in DI first shortened duration then prolonged. An appropriate was shown process achieve combustion, which Low THC, CO PM while NOx remained level.
